Katrie Bonanno, maiden name Katrie Arena, was born on February 22, 1979 in Seoul, South Korea and was adopted by an American family in New York. She started to draw at a very young age and since then has developed a strong passion for the arts.
When she was in high school, Katrie took college level art classes at SUNY New Paltz. She attended the prestigious School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York City where she majored in fine arts with a concentration in painting. Katrie earned a BFA in 2002.
After graduation she was hired by a frame and restoration company in New York City where she assisted in conserving and restoring major pieces of art. Katrie has worked at various other jobs including decorative painting and carpentry, building props for broadway shows. She worked for Touch Bionics, a prosthetic company, painting and sculpting prosthetic devices for amputees. While there, Katrie developed techniques for painting tattoo designs on prosthetic devices.
Currently, Katrie works as a freelance artist specializing in oil painting. She continues to develop her unique representational style of portraits, landscapes, and cityscapes.
Katrie resides in the Hudson Valley in New York state. She is a member of several local artists' organizations including the Wallkill River School, the Beacon Arts Community Association (BACA), the Dutchess County Arts Council (DCAC), and the Mill Street Loft.
